Happy official 1st day of summer!  Hope it's a prettier day wherever you are than it is here.  Foggy, gray and gloomy so far this morning.   In an effort to push away the gray and gloom (which is kind of how I've been feeling too), I resolved to finish up The Story of Cake which was laying on my desk the past couple of days!

Wasn't at all sure if I was really going to like this layout so much...  but it has grown on me.  I am not much of a sticker person, nor do I go for a lot of the cutesy-patootsie style papers.  I tend to scrapbook from the colors in the photos, so I went with some older Making Memories papers again.  I think some of this might have been from their Take Note collection.  I only had one sheet of the big dotted paper and one of the die cut paper---so that meant that I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the papers across the two pages.

I also used a sheet of paper from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry line.  The piece I used was row after row of pretty little cupcakes.  And yes,  I did cut out a slew of those cupcakes, then adhered them with pop dots.  They were cute...  and I have a problem doing cute, as I have confessed before... so I didn't know if that's what was bothering me or what.  But I decided to go for it and embellish the cupcakes further.  Added white Liquid Pearls to some of the frosting swirls, Glossy Accents to the fruit, dots of Liquid Pearls and Diamond Stickles to the white (coconut I think) frosting and some lime green and red Stickles to some of the sprinkles.

The letters are some old Heidi Swapp chipboard alpha's (I know I'll have to add some glue to these to make 'em actually stay put---but that's ok with me.  I alway's loved these alpha's; they are a perfect size.)

After I typed this journaling, cut it into strips---then added as a captions to each of the photos along with a punched border.  Last was to add a piece of ribbon along the bottom of the layout and a few buttons in the coordinating colors.

Have a happy, scrappy day all!
