It's still December

Since it is still December, I thought I would post my December Formula Page.  I hesitate to post them before the class has taken place, but this class is over for the month, so here ya' go.

You really can't see the dark red base of the page this photo, but you get the idea.

The layout itself is pretty straightforward.  But I think what appeals to our customers is; first, it is a layout they don't have to think about designing!  But mostly, we have a lot of folks that can pick out papers and colors just fine... but then are stuck as to how to arrange them.  So this ongoing class is a step-by-step recipe for cutting and arranging.

So that's it, just a quick post today.

Sneak Peeks

Wow, multiple posts in one day.  But I feel as though I have to post just a couple of peeks of some upcoming classes at my very favorite SB store, Legacy Scrapbooks!

If there is anyone following my blog (sometimes I wonder if there is anyone out there reading this as I refuse to pay for indexing my blog with the big search engine sites)--if you are following this, then you already know about my formula pages class and about Legacy's twice yearly Scrapathon.  Well, Power Pages is an event that is meant to encompass a bit of both of those events.

We will be making 8 pages in one afternoon.  Each participant will receive a set of page kits with instructions and each page will have it's own "station" complete with any special tools or supplies to create the page.  The instructions are meant as a way for the participant to recreate the page whenever inspiration is needed to jump-start some scrapbooking creativity!

Unlike the pages we supply as Make & Takes at the Scrapathon event(s), the pages we will make at the Power Pages event will be utilizing tools and techniques that would simply be too time consuming to incorporate in an event where we are trying to move as many folks through as we do at Scrapathon.

So here are three peeks of the pages we'll be making at the Power Pages event.  And just like all of our other events, there are always a few extra goodies that we supply.  Nope, I'm not telling what you'll be getting!

Power Pages is coming up fast, January 10, and there is limited seating available.

I will also be doing a bonus Valentine cards class.  It is not on the current class schedule, but there will be en email blast going out soon to let folks know the date(s) and time(s).

What I have in mind for everyone are cards for family, friends and kids alike.  Watch for more peeks in the coming days!

Next up....I think I have to make some creative resolutions.  Off to the studio!

Christmas Past

Oh my gosh, has it really been 17 days since I posted anything?!?  I guess it has.  Well that's what the holidays will do.  Kim and I did have our baking day.  We never get everything baked that we set out to do.  No matter that we make batches of cookie dough ahead... It's those darn sugar cookies that take so long to roll and cut out and frost.  But everyone loves them so.  We end up make four batches of them every Christmas.  Then we wind up each of us baking several other kinds during the evenings that follow our baking day and we divide them between us.

We kept everything else pretty simple for Christmas.  No large extravagant gifts this year and it did make for a much easier and more enjoyable holiday.  I think that regardless of our financial situations in Christmas'es to come that we will keep this "less is more" simple approach.  Dinner at Kim's:  a small ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans and what else--cookies for dessert!

Even my Christmas cards this year were very simple.

I used my Cricut and Joys of the Season to cut out the leaping reindeer, freehand cut the snowdrifts, dotted on the snowflakes using my White Uniball pen and layered these pieces with a knotted ribbon and a strip of last year's Basic Grey Wassail collection on an ivory card.  (I loved the Wassail collection, one of my favorites--although I have many Basic Grey favorites...)

My sister and I try to exchange handmade gifts every year...  I made her and my mom a big batch of all occasion cards.  Some were from Basic Grey card kits (love those)  and some were from previous card marathons at the store and some were from my scraps to cards efforts.

My sister made both Kim and I lovely, sparkly, beaded bracelets and earrings.  I wish I was better at jewelry making, but that is not my talent!

This is not a very good photo--it does not capture the sparkle, but notice the "C" for Cheryl that she put on the bracelet for me! And Kim's bracelet sported a "K" for her!  Thank you Karen!

I wish everyone the very best of everything this holiday season.  Merry Christmas now and all year long.

Christmas is Upon Us

Since it snowed (and rained and then snowed some more -- it felt like shoveling pond water this morning!) it is beginning to look more like Christmas here in Wisconsin.

And then there was the annual Holiday Card Marathon at Legacy a couple weeks ago, our annual cookie exchange that my friend Anne hosts every year, not to mention the Legacy Christmas party at my friend and bosses' house this past weekend. Plus I will be doing the annual cookie bake-off at my daughter's house this weekend.  We will be making Pink Lady Fingers, Spritz, Rolled Meltaways, Chocolate Crinkles, Ribbon Cookies, Stone Jar Molasses Cookies, Frosted Meltaways, and oh yes-- Deluxe Frosted Sugar Cookies (I always wind up doing those --- it seems I am the official cookie dough roller and cutter).  We usually experiment with a new recipe or two and even if we do not finish all the cookies on baking day, we each make a few batches on our own and then swap them.

So between the baking and the party-ing and the card making, Christmas is most definitely upon us! With so many fun holiday papers, the hardest part of designing the holiday cards for the marathon was deciding which papers to use!

The cards in the foreground are from the card marathon.  Actually, the tree card was supposed to be part of the card marathon, but we sold out of that stamp set (from SEI's Christmas Mint collection and it is now back in stock).  That card had to be slightly redesigned for the class.  The marathon has become so popular, we now have to hold it twice to accommodate everyone.  How cool is that!?

The little gift bag is the make & take we did at the Stamp & Scrap Expo.

And the page is, well just cuz!
